This nature reserve extends for 771 hectares in the northern section of the city of Rome between Via Cassia and Via Trionfale. It gets its name from the presence of many specimens of sughero oaks. The nature reserve preserves some distinctive characteristics of the Roman countryside and represents a relevant naturalistic corridor, a green space that extends from the center of the city to the north, offering a rich heritage of biodiversity with over 600 listed species of vegetation. Along the two strade consolari there are numerous remains of the past. Among those, the so-called “Tomba di Nerone”, a tombstone mistakenly attributed to the Roman emperor.
